Which New York are you in?

We're in Millersburg, in Holmes County, Ohio. That puts Buffalo about five hours away and Manhattan about eight. Those are different trips, so they get different answers.

Western New York - Buffalo, Medina, out toward Rochester. Five hours is a long day but a real one, and a fair number of western New York families do drive down, meet us and the parents, and head home the same evening. If you'd rather not, ground transport is straightforward at that distance.

Central and northern New York, Syracuse, Watertown, Herkimer, the Adirondacks. Ground transport is usually the answer. A professional pet transport service runs the route in a climate-controlled vehicle.

Downstate New York City, Long Island, the Hudson Valley. Most families here choose a personal flight nanny. Your puppy travels in the cabin, in a carrier under the seat, with someone whose only job that day is pampering your puppy. Ground transport is also available if you'd rather your puppy stay out of an airport entirely.

Ground runs $300-$600 depending on distance. A flight nanny runs $850–$1,650. We'll quote your actual number before you commit to anything.

If you're in an apartment or a co-op

More of our New York buyers are in buildings than anywhere else we place puppies, and buildings have rules.

Weight limits. Many leases and house rules cap pets somewhere in the 20 to 25 pound range. Our Cavapoos generally mature between 10 and 20 pounds depending on the pairing, so they usually sit well under that. If your building has a hard number, tell us before you reserve. Some of our pairings run smaller than others, and we'd rather point you at the right litter than have you discover the problem at twelve months.

Board approval. If you're in a co-op, some boards want to approve the dog before it arrives, and some ask for paperwork. We can provide the health record, the parents' testing results, and written confirmation of the breed and expected size. Ask us early, it's easier to send it before your travel date than to scramble the week of.

Breed restrictions are rarely an issue with Cavapoos, but read your own house rules rather than taking our word for it.

The paperwork New York actually requires

Coming into the state, New York requires a certificate of veterinary inspection issued within 30 days of entry. That's a more generous window than the ten days most airlines want, so in practice the airline's rule is the tighter one. We arrange the certificate through our vet so there is nothing for you to organise.

Rabies is required for dogs at four months. Your puppy comes home at nine weeks, so that one lands on your vet's schedule, not ours.

A dog licence comes from your town or city clerk. In New York City it's the Department of Health, and it's required once your dog is four months old.

Our contract asks you to have your own vet see the puppy within 72 hours or three business days of arrival. Book that before travel day. It's the right moment to get the rest of the schedule set.

Coming to us

Western New York families are welcome to make the drive, and we'd be glad to have you. Home visits are by appointment, any day but Sunday.

If you're eight hours out, we do this by phone and video instead plenty of downstate families FaceTime with us and with the litter before reserving. Both parents' OFA results and genetic panels are on their own pages, so you can read the paperwork before you spend a dollar.

How does a puppy get to New York City?

You can either choose a personal flight nanny who brings your puppy along in the airplane cabin, in a carrier under the seat, with someone whose only job that day is your puppy or with Ground transport in a climate-controlled vehicle. Neither option uses a cargo hold.

Can I come down and meet you?

Yes. Buffalo is about five hours and some families do make the trip. From the city it's closer to eight, so most downstate families do video calls instead. Home visits are by appointment either way.

My building has a 25 lb limit. Will a Cavapoo stay under it?

Usually, but we won't promise it. Ours generally mature between 10 and 20 pounds depending on the pairing, and adult size is an estimate based on the parents. Tell us your building's number before you reserve and we'll steer you toward the right litters.

What health paperwork comes with the puppy?

A certificate of veterinary inspection from our vet. New York wants one issued within 30 days of entry plus the complete health record, vaccine and deworming documentation, and the microchip details for you to register. We arrange the certificate.

What testing do the parents have?
